S t. Tammany Parish is the fastest growing parish in Louisiana and one of the fastest growing communities in the nation. It’s is home to beautiful lakes and scenic rivers, offering abundant water activities, and tranquil countrysides.  There’s something for everyone in St. Tammany Parish.  Appreciation for the arts plays an important part of the community with many fine galleries, studios, playhouses, and frequent cultural events.

  The school system in St. Tammany is superb.  It consistently scores above state and national averages.  There are 55 public schools, educating 37,500 students and 16 private and/or faith-based schools educating 8,500.  St. Tammany has the highest ACT averages in the state. National Schools of Excellence and Money magazine has named the system one of the top 100 school systems in the nation.

Louisiana’s Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a scholarship program for Louisiana residents who attend public colleges and universities.  There are numerous four-year and two-year colleges and universities and technical colleges within commuting distance of St. Tammany.

 The cost of living is extremely appealing.  St. Tammany’s ACCRA cost of living index is 96.  Louisiana’s property tax have the most generous exemption in the country.  The value of a home is tax-free up to $75,000 from state and parish property taxes.  Property taxes on owner-occupied housing are the lowest in the nation.

 One of the most important components of the St. Tammany cost of living Index are the reasonable real estate prices.  St. Tammany offers a diverse market from urban neighborhoods to small town country living.  The average price per square foot for a single family home in St. Tammany is from $86.53 to $111.93.  The average sales price is $172,815 to $255,616.

 St. Tammany has become the preferred location for warehouse and distribution facilities partly due to accessible transportation options.  There are a large variety of locations outside the flood-prone areas.

 Sport Fishing in St. Tammany’s bayous, rivers and lakes are some of the best in the U.S.  With more than 20 marinas and numerous boat ramps located throughout the parish serving a multitude of water sports.

 The growing population has created a market for full service sporting facilities.  Eight public and private golf courses and numerous world class health clubs with tennis courts and swimming pools provide the parish’s residents with an abundance of outdoor recreation, corporate and family activities.

 Major retail chains have moved into St. Tammany giving residents a wide variety of shopping options.  There’s also a robust art scene.  St. Tammany boasts two top-class, decades-old community theater and music venues, each offering a full of performances at either end of the parish.

 St. Tammany is home to eight acute-care hospitals, three long-term acute care hospitals and numerous private healthcare provides.  The parish is divided into two hospital districts, St. Tammany Parish Hospital and Slidell Memorial Hospital.  Ten privates facilities are available to meet medical needs, along with more than a dozen excellent retirement communities offering independent, assisted and nursing care.
